Badminton Tournament 2021

Sport is a recreational tool that binds the community together, encourages friendships and fosters strong social bonds. Participating in any form of sports is also a great way to boost mental health and reduce the risk of various health issues. Keeping these points in mind, the UIOSA recently organised a badminton tournament recently that saw huge participation from community members.

The event, held at SABA, Lockleys, was scheduled for July 18 and July 25. Though the first leg was held as planned, the second leg was postponed to August 15 due to the COVID-19 lockdown.

The tournament, flagged off by OAM Member of Parliament and Paralympian Matt Cowdrey, adhered to SA Health COVID-19 guidelines for social gatherings.

A total of 200 players over 15 years of age participated in the event, which was managed by UIOSA Compliance Officer & Joint Secretary Shailesh Kamble and his team comprising Vivek, Rajat, Manpreet, Madhulika and Bhavna. Looking at the success of its first such tournament, the UIOSA is planning more such events in the future.

We thank all our sponsors for their great support who have made it possible for us to organize this event.
