About UIOSA

Who We Are

United Indians of South Australia (UIOSA) is a volunteer-driven, not-for-profit community organisation dedicated to promoting culture, heritage and multicultural engagement across South Australia.

Established in 2016, UIOSA brings together people from diverse cultural backgrounds through festivals, cultural events, community service initiatives and youth educational activities.

Best known for organising the annual Australia Cha Raja Arts and Cultural Ganesh Festival, UIOSA fosters social inclusion, celebrates cultural diversity and strengthens community connections while contributing to the vibrant multicultural landscape of South Australia.

Our Heritage

Our Story

The Arts and Cultural Ganesh Festival reinforces the ideology started by Balgangadhar Lokmanya Tilak of Sarvajanik Ganesh Utsav or community celebrations in India. The United Indians of South Australia (UIOSA) conceptualised the festival on the foundation of inclusiveness of the multi-cultural community of Australia.

In early 2016, a group of enthusiastic and passionate individuals came together to create a like-minded forum to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi as a community festival. And the result was the birth of the United Indians of South Australia (UIOSA) and the launch of the Arts and Cultural Ganesh Festival in Adelaide.

Community Spirit

Driven by Passion

Driven by passion and zeal, we set out to spread the festive fervour of Ganesh festival in our state of South Australia the Festival State. The idea was to transport the community to the world of joy, happiness, unity and brotherhood and extravaganza associated with the Ganesh festival.

Though we encountered the problem of limited resources initially, it could not deter us from celebrating the birth of our 'God of Prosperity' on a grand scale.
