UIOSA Sports

Bringing the community together through healthy competition, team spirit, and the joy of sport – from badminton to cricket and beyond.

Serving Community Through Sport

Sport is a recreational tool that holds the community together, encourages friendships and fosters strong social bonds. Participating in any form of sports is also a great way to boost mental health and reduce the risk of various health issues. Keeping these points in mind, UIOSA recently organised a badminton tournament that saw huge participation from community members.

The event, held at SABA, Lockleys, was scheduled for July 18 and July 25. Though the first leg was held as planned, the second leg was postponed to August 15 due to the COVID-19 lockdown.

The tournament, flagged off by OAM Member of Parliament and Paralympian Matt Cuddy, adhered to SA Health COVID-19 guidelines for social gatherings.

A total of 200 players in 9 teams of six participants participated at the event, which was managed by UIOSA Compliance Officer & Audit Secretary Shahid Kamboh and his team comprising Vinel, Rajat, Manpreet, Madhulika and Bhavna. Looking at the success of its first such tournament, UIOSA is planning more such events in the future.
